Chair Stories

Donna G. - Chesapeake, VA

In December 2008, the day after Christmas, my Mother was admitted to the Hospital with congestive heart failure and fluid around the heart. Her breathing was at a 75 and she looked like death. Being an only child, I have a very close bond with my parents. Seeing my Mother lay in the bed with machines and IV's in the critical heart unit and listening to what the Doctors were saying and the unknown in the back of my mind, I was scared. I stayed at the Hospital with my Mom from the start of visiting hours to the close of visiting hours each day. Every night I left the hospital, I would visit the Chapel and pray. Allison Carlson was my "coach" at the SBDC when I first ventured into business. I had not spoken with Allison in a few months and I believe that faith brought Allison to call me this day, she called to make sure business was okay, etc. I explained to her my situation to her and the next day, I gave my Mother the "Chair". My mother since, has has been released from the hospital, she is feeling good, she looks healthy and her PC Doctor said her heart and her breathing are improving each day. I believe in God, Faith and the "Chair". Thank you Allison for calling me that day and my family Thanks you for the "Chair"
